Special schools Abstract Istraživanje u sklopu ove disertacije usmjereno je prema prepoznavanju izazova s kojima se susreću djeca s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama prilikom obavljanja svakodnevnih životnih aktivnosti, naglašavajući važnost stvaranja podržavajućeg okruženja koje omogućuje njihovo aktivno sudjelovanje u društvu. Temeljna znanstveno-teorijska polazišta disertacije leže u dubljem razumijevanju veza između motoričkih i funkcionalnih sposobnosti i vještina i subjektivnih doživljaja kvalitete života unutar ove specifične populacije, kao i procjene od strane njihovih roditelja/skrbnika. Glavni ciljevi predloženog istraživanja su ispitati povezanost motoričkih i funkcionalnih vještina i kvalitete života u djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama, roditeljsku percepciju djetetovih funkcionalnih vještina i kvalitete života, kao i samopercepciju kvalitete života djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama. Postavljanjem navedenih istraživačkih ciljeva formulirano je šest hipoteza, koje su tijekom provedbe istraživanja sistematično testirane i analizirane. Sudionici istraživanja su djeca školske dobi (od 12 do 16 godina) s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama koja su uključena u sustav odgoja i obrazovanja te njihovi roditelji/skrbnici. Svi sudionici istraživanja potječu s područja četiriju županija u Republici Hrvatskoj. U istraživanju su primijenjeni mjerni instrumenti: Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition (BOT-2), Test vizualno-motoričke integracijeBeery-Buktenica, WeeFIM – Skala funkcionalne neovisnosti za djecu i KIDSCREEN-27 – Upitnik kvalitete života za djecu i roditelje. Podaci su obrađeni u programu Microsoft Office Excel 2003, a zatim su uvezeni u Python 3.9 u svrhu provedbe statističke analize. Istraživanje je potvrdilo polazne hipoteze i vezu između motoričkih i funkcionalnih vještina i kvalitete života u djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su da su motoričke vještine usko povezane sa stupnjem teškoća u ove djece. Procjena funkcionalnih vještina i kvalitete života od strane roditelja ili skrbnika također je pokazala povezanost sa stupnjem teškoća u djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama. Isto tako, samopercipirana kvaliteta života djeteta pozitivno je povezana s motoričkim vještinama i funkcionalnim sposobnostima. Cjelokupni nalazi istraživanja potvrdili su da postoji povezanost između stupnja teškoća, motoričkih vještina i kvalitete života u djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama. Kroz suradnju roditelja, skrbnika, stručnjaka i obrazovnih institucija može se stvoriti poticajno okruženje koje podržava djecu s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama u ostvarivanju punog potencijala, postizanju samostalnosti i neovisnosti u svakodnevnom životu. S obzirom na nedostatak istraživanja o povezanosti motoričkih i funkcionalnih vještina i kvalitete života djece s intelektualnim i motoričkim teškoćama,
dobiveni rezultati pridonose boljem razumijevanju osobitosti motoričkih i funkcionalnih sposobnosti i vještina u ove djece te daju uvid u roditeljsku percepciju djetetove kvalitete života. Oni također mogu poslužiti kao poticaj za daljnja istraživanja i razvoj programa usmjerenih na poboljšanje opće dobrobiti i kvalitete života djece s teškoćama u razvoju.
Abstract (english) Research within this dissertation is aimed at identifying the challenges faced by children with intellectual and motor disabilities when performing daily life activities, emphasizing the importance of creating a supportive environment that enables their active participation in society. The fundamental scientific-theoretical starting points of the dissertation lie in a deeper understanding of the connections between motor skills, functional abilities and subjective experiences of the quality of life within this specific population, as well as the assessment by their parents/caregivers. The main goals of the proposed research are to examine the connection between motor and functional skills and quality of life in children with intellectual and motor disabilities, parental perception of the child's functional skills and quality of life, as well as self-perception of the quality of life of children with intellectual and motor disabilities. By setting the stated research goals, six hypotheses were formulated, systematically tested and analyzed during the research. The research participants are children of school age (from 12 to 16 years old) with intellectual and motor disabilities who are included in the education system, and their parents/guardians. All research participants come from four counties in the Republic of Croatia. The research used measuring instruments Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition (BOT-2), Beery-Buktenica Visual-Motor Integration Test, WeeFIM - Functional Independence Scale for Children and KIDSCREEN-27 - Quality of Life Questionnaire for Children and Parents. Data were processed in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and then imported into Python 3.9 for statistical analysis. The research confirmed the initial hypotheses and the connection between motor skills, functional abilities and quality of life in children with intellectual and motor disabilities. The obtained results showed that motor skills are closely related to the degree of difficulty in these children. Assessment of functional skills and quality of life by parents or guardians also showed a connection with the degree of difficulty in children with intellectual and motor disabilities. Likewise, the child's self-perceived quality of life is positively related to motor skills and functional abilities. The overall findings of the research confirmed that there is a connection between the degree of difficulty, motor skills and quality of life in children with intellectual and motor disabilities. Through the cooperation of parents, guardians, experts and educational institutions, a stimulating environment can be created that supports children with intellectual and motor disabilities in realizing their full potential, achieving independence and autonomy in everyday life. Given the lack of research on the connection between motor and functional skills and the quality of life of children with intellectual and motor disabilities, the obtained results contribute to a better understanding of
the peculiarities of motor and functional abilities and skills in these children and provide insight into the parental perception of the child's quality of life. They can also serve as a incentive for further research and development of programs aimed at improving the general well-being and quality of life of children with developmental disabilities.
