Abstract

Partnerske veze prirodan su dio ljudskog iskustva i ključan segment međuljudskih odnosa koji značajno doprinosi poboljšanju kvalitete života svih ljudi, uključujući osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama. Cilj ovog rada bio je dobiti uvid u perspektivu osoblja iz formalnog sustava tj. službi podrške o ostvarivanju partnerskih veza odraslih osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama. U istraživanju je primijenjen kvalitativni pristup prikupljanja i analize podataka. Podaci su prikupljeni metodom fokus grupnog intervjua, koji je vođen prema unaprijed pripremljenim pitanjima za polustrukturirani intervju, usklađenim s istraživačkim pitanjima. Fokus grupni intervju proveden je u skladu s odgovarajućim postupkom dobivanja informirane suglasnosti od sudionika, poštujući etičke smjernice radi zaštite njihovih prava i interesa. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 5 sudionika, za čiji je odabir korištena tehnika namjernog uzorkovanja. Kriterij za odabir sudionika, s obzirom na temu istraživanja, bio je postojanje iskustva neposrednog rada tj. pružanja podrške odraslim osobama s intelektualnim teškoćama u sustavu socijalnih službi i usluga. Prilikom kvalitativne analize podataka, korištena je tematska analiza sadržaja.
U nalazima istraživanja definirana su tri tematska područja s pripadajućim temama i podtemama: Potencijali osoba s intelektualnim teškoćama, Postojeće mogućnosti za ostvarivanje partnerskih veza, Iskustva i preporuke osoblja za pružanje podrške u ostvarivanju partnerskih veza. Nalazi istraživanja ukazuju da osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama često iskazuju interes za intimnost, potrebu za bliskim interpersonalnim odnosima te posjeduju potencijale za uspostavljanje i održavanje dugogodišnje partnerske veze. Međutim, mogućnosti za ostvarivanje istih ovim su osobama često ograničene, uglavnom zbog postojanja negativnih stavova roditelja i okoline, sustavnih ograničenja koja utječu na njihovu privatnost te nedostatka prilika za upoznavanje potencijalnih partnera. Podržavanje partnerstva od strane roditelja i osoblja iz formalnog sustava podrške ohrabrujući je i poticajan čimbenik. Pokazalo se da osoblje iz formalnog sustava podrške prepoznaje želje i potrebe koje osobe s intelektualnim teškoćama imaju u ovom području te im, unatoč različitim izazovima s kojima se susreće u svom radu, nastoji pružiti adekvatnu podršku, kako u uspostavljanju, tako i održavanju partnerskih veza.

Abstract (english)

Partnerships are a natural part of the human experience and a key segment of interpersonal relationships that significantly contribute to improving the quality of life of people, including those with intellectual disabilities. The aim of this research was to gain insight into the perspective of formal support system staff regarding the establishment of partnerships by adults with intellectual disabilities. A qualitative approach was used for data collection and analysis in the research. The data was collected using the focus group interview method, which was conducted according to prepared questions for a semi-structured interview that was tailored to the research questions. The focus group interview was conducted in accordance with the appropriate procedure for obtaining informed consent from the participants, respecting ethical guidelines in order to protect their rights and interests. Five participants took part in the study, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The criterion for selecting participants, given the research topic, was that they had experience of working directly with and providing support to adults with intellectual disabilities within the social services and support system. A thematic content analysis was used to analyse the data. The research findings defined three thematic areas with corresponding themes and sub-themes: Potentials of people with intellectual disabilities, Existing opportunities for establishing partnerships, and Staff experiences and recommendations for providing support in establishing partnerships. The research findings indicate that people with intellectual disabilities often express an interest in intimacy and the need for close interpersonal relationships and have the potential to build and maintain long-term partnerships. However, opportunities to achieve this are often limited for these people, mainly due to negative attitudes from parents and community, systemic limitations affecting their privacy and a lack of opportunities to meet potential partners. Support for partnerships from parents and formal support system staff is an encouraging and motivating factor. Despite the various challenges they face in their work, it has been shown that staff from the formal support system recognize the desires and needs of people with intellectual disabilities in this area and strive to provide adequate support, both in establishing and maintaining partnerships.
