Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Social skills take up an important role in every individual and are of great importance as they enable a better life quality. People with intellectual disabilities can have some difficulties in cognitive, emotional and social development. When we talk about social skills in adults with intellectual disabilities, it can be said that they are not sufficiently developed in this social group. This is manifested in different skills such as communication, conflict solving, emotion recognition and coping with new situations and the like. There are various programs and methods used in the promotion of social skills in people with intellectual disabilities. Given that this work deals with adults with intellectual disabilities and their social skills, psychodrama is used as a method that can promote techniques for acquiring social skills precisely in this population. The aim of this study is to gain insight on how adults with intellectual disabilities experience psychodrama, and how they feel in a variety of roles during the psychodrama workshop, and finally how it can increase their social skills, and therefore their quality of life. In this study were used qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. Results of this study indicate a positive change in terms of improving certain social skills in subjects using psychodrama as a method. Attending psychodrama workshops can encourage socialization, which is essential when it comes to adults with intellectual disabilities. However, it is necessary to carry out more research in this area to be able to get a better insight into the benefits offered by psychodrama when we are talking about adults with intellectual disabilities.
