Abstract
Potom slijedi prikaz istraživanja meditacije, njenih korelata i učinaka. Sve navedeno omogućava razumijevanje meditacije i meditativne prakse. Sve navedeno otvara raspravu o potencijalima meditacije u prevenciji i tretmanu. Na samom kraju dolazi rasprava o ograničenjima istraživanja i programa temeljenih na meditaciji.

Parallel abstract (English)
The purpose of this thesis is to open a discussion about the possibilities of using meditation in prevention and treatment of behavioral problems. The content of the paper can be divided into two parts: the first part is directed towards understanding of meditation practice, and the second one towards examining its potentials in prevention and treatment of behavioral problems. The first part of the paper defines meditation and meditative practice, explores its origins and the context in which it developed and gives a review and categorization of different types of meditation practices. With its origins taken into consideration, meditation practice is explored as a spiritual as well as secular technique. After defining meditation as a way of training the mind and the meditative state of mind as different then the everyday mind, a short overview of the everyday mind, or the nature of the mind is presented. Afterward there is a review of meditation research, its correlates and effects. All of these allow the understanding of meditation and meditative practice. In the second part of the paper an overview of the way in which meditation is used in preventive and treatment purposes is provided, as well as the effects of meditation as an intervention. This is deepened with the perspective of a professional who uses meditation as a treatment tool. All this allows for a debate about the potential of meditation in prevention and treatment of behavioral problems to be opened. At the end limits of meditation research and programs are taken into consideration.
