Abstract

Rani matematički razvoj obuhvaća usvajanje matematičkih znanja koje se odvija tijekom predškolskog razdoblja, dakle prije formalnog učenja matematike kakvo je prisutno u školi. Tijekom tog perioda djeca pokazuju sposobnost matematičkog mišljenja u svakodnevnoj igri na različitim razinama; u domeni aritmetike, geometrije i algebre.
Cilj ovog rada bio je ispitati matematička znanja kod četverogodišnjaka, petogodišnjaka i šestogodišnjaka urednog razvoja kako bi se dobile informacije o tome što predstavlja uredan razvoj matematičkih koncepata u određenoj dobi kod govornika hrvatskog jezika. Istraživanje je obuhvaćalo ukupno devedesetero djece, 30 četverogodišnjaka, 30 petogodišnjaka te 30 šestogodišnjaka koji pohađaju redovni vrtićki program u Zagrebu.
Za potrebe provedbe ovog istraživanja osmišljen je set zadataka prema uzoru na zadatke koji se koriste u svjetskim testovima za procjenu ranih matematičkih znanja. Statističkom obradom podataka dobivena je statistički značajna razlika između triju dobnih skupina ispitanika u ukupnom rezultatu, kao i na pojedinim varijablama iz matematičkih kategorija broja i usvajanja brojenja, aritmetičkih operacija, problemskih zadataka i matematičkih obrazaca. Nadalje, u svim zadacima najstarija dobna skupina je ostvarivala najbolje rezultate.
Dobiveni rezultati u velikoj su mjeri odgovarali podacima o ranom matematičkom razvoju koji postoje u svjetskoj literaturi te dali prikaz o tijeku usvajanja matematičkih koncepata u predškolskoj dobi kod govornika hrvatskog jezika.

Abstract (english)

Early math development includes a set of skills which children develop through the first six years of their life, before they enter the formal education system. During this time children show a variety of abilities that are connected with mathematical thinking, mostly through their everyday play. These abilities include mathematical thinking in the areas of arithmetic, geometry and algebra.
The aim of this research was to investigate the mathematical skills in children from age four to age six and describe the growth in children's early math skills whose native language is Croatian. The research included ninety children, 30 four year olds, 30 five year olds and 30 six year olds who are attending the preschool program in the city of Zagreb.
A set of tasks was designed for the purposes of this research. The tasks are based on tests used for assessing early math skills in some North American and European countries. Statistical analysis of the data showed significant difference in performance of three age groups in the overall result, as well as in tasks in the categories of counting, arithmetic operations, problem tasks and mathematical patterns. The group of six year olds showed the best performance in all tasks.
The results correspond to data in the field of the development of early math skills conducted from research in some North American and European countries and give information about the development of early math skills in Croatian speaking children.
