Abstract

Zahvaljujući novorođenačkom probiru na oštećenje sluha, danas se kongenitalna gluhoća otkriva pri rođenju. Kohlearna implantacija omogućuje slušanje te na taj način omogućuje djetetu jezični i govorni razvoj. Mnogobrojna istraživanja pokazuju pozitivan utjecaj rane kohlarne implantacije, one prije treće godine života, na jezične i govorne ishode. U usporedbi s djecom imlantiranom kasnije, ranije implantirana djeca pokazuju bolje govorne vještine, kao i jezični razvoj koji je usporediv s čujućim vršnjacima. Unatoč boljim govornim vještinama i jezičnim razvojem, ranije implantirana djeca i dalje imaju lošija postignuća od čujućih vršnjaka, te je prisutna velika varijabilnost. Ovaj pregledni rad usmjeren je na utvrđivanje razine usvojenosti govornih vještina te rječničkih i morfosintaktičkih znanja kod rano implantirane djece s obzirom na dob implantacije. Konačno, navest će se pregled čimbenika koji utječu na izrazitu varijabilnost govornih i jezičnih ishoda rano implantirane djece, kao i rizici rane kohlearne implantacije.

Abstract (english)

With the application of newborn hearing screening programs, today congenital deafness can be identified at birth. Cochlear implantation restores hearing and enables child's speech and laguage development. Many research show advantages of early cochlear implantation, before the age of three, especially in language and speech development. When compared to children implanted later, earlier implanted children show better speech and language outcomes, and their language development can be compared to hearing peers. Despite this, there is still a great variability in outcomes. This master thesis will give a review of speech, vocabulary and morphosyntactic skills in early implanted children regarding the age at implantation. Finally, it will give a review of multiple factors influencing speech and language development of early implanted children, and potential risks of early cochlear implantation.
