Abstract

S obzirom da je poremećaj iz spektra autizma (PSA) složen multidimenzionalni poremećaj, djeca sa PSA-om zahtijevaju posebnu brigu i brojne dodatne oblike podrške što utječe na cijelu obitelj, pa tako i majke djece sa PSA-om. Ranija istraživanja pokazuju da majke djece sa PSA-om pokazuju povećanu razinu stresa te da velika uključenost i angažiranost majki u odgoju djeteta s poremećajem iz spektra autizma nerijetko rezultira narušenim psihičkim i fizičkim zdravljem majki te socijalnom izoliranošću što posljedično utječe na kvalitetu života. Roditelji, a posebno majke, su najčešće te koje s djecom provode najviše vremena, a istraživanja govore da se njihova percipirana kvaliteta života i zadovoljstvo kvalitetom života može odraziti na djetetove ishode. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi kvalitetu života majki djece sa PSA-om koja su dobi od 2 do 7 godina te čimbenike povezane s kvalitetom života. Korišten je upitnik Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije WHOQOL-BREF koji je ispunjavalo 40 majki djece sa PSA-om. Rezultati su pokazali da kvaliteta života majki djece sa PSA-om predškolske dobi odstupa u odnosu na zadovoljavajuću na domenama tjelesnog zdravlja, psihičkog zdravlja, zadovoljstva socijalnim odnosima i okolinom. Kao značajan čimbenik povezan s kvalitetom života na domenama psihičkog zdravlja, zadovoljstva okolinom i fizičkog zdravlja pokazali su se prihodi kućanstva, odnosno financijski status obitelji. Međutim, radni status majke i težina simptoma PSA-a u ovom se istraživanju nisu pokazali kao značajni čimbenici. Poznavanje točnih domena kvalitete života koje su narušene kod majki djece sa PSA-om te čimbenika koji na nju utječu doprinosi boljem obiteljskom savjetovanju i stvaranju partnerskog odnosa s roditeljima, a posljedično i ostvarivanju ciljeva podrške i pružanja socijalne podrške majkama djece sa PSA-om.

Abstract (english)

Given that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex multidimensional disorder, children with ASD require special care and numerous additional forms of support, which affects the entire family, including mothers of children with ASD. Earlier research shows that mothers of children with ASD show an increased level of stress. Also, it shows that the great involvement and engagement of mothers in raising a child with an autism spectrum disorder often results in impaired mental and physical health of mothers and social isolation, which consequently affects the quality of life. Parents, especially mothers, are usually the ones who spend the most time with their children and research shows that their perceived quality of life and their satisfaction with the quality of life can be reflected in the child's outcomes. The aim of this research was to determine the quality of life of mothers of children with ASD between the ages of 2 and 7 and the factors related to life quality. The World Health Organization's WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire was used, which was completed by 40 mothers of children with ASD. The results showed that the quality of life of mothers of children with ASD of preschool age deviates from satisfactory in the domains of physical health, mental health, satisfaction with social relationships and the environment. Household income, i.e. the financial status of the family, proved to be a significant factor related to the quality of life in the domains of psychological health, satisfaction with the environment and physical health. However, the work status of the mother and the severity of ASD symptoms were not found to be significant factors in this study. Knowing the exact domains of the quality of life that are impaired in mothers of children with ASD and the factors that affect it, contributes to better family counseling and the creation of a partnership with parents and consequently to the achievement of the goals of support and the provision of social support to mothers of children with ASD.
