Abstract

Genetski sindrom DiGeorge može uzrokovati zdravstvene i neurorazvojne poremećaje različite ozbiljnosti, što značajno utječe na obrazovanje, socijalizaciju, svakodnevni život te fizičko i mentalno zdravlje djece. Prema brojnim istraživanjima, djeca s razvojnim teškoćama često doživljavaju socijalnu isključenost unutar razrednog okruženja. Stoga je ključno osigurati njihovo učinkovito uključivanje među vršnjake kako bi se promicala prihvaćenost učenika s teškoćama u razvoju i omogućio inkluzivni odgoj i obrazovanje u njegovom punom kapacitetu. Cilj je ovoga rada prikazati iskustvo pohađanja razrednog odjela iz perspektive učenika s DiGeorgeovim sindromom, ali i dobiti uvid kako vršnjaci doživljavaju i prihvaćaju tog istog učenika. S vršnjacima trećeg razreda osnovne škole najprije je održana radionica s ciljem informiranja o teškoćama u razvoju, uključujući i DiGeorgeov sindrom. Nakon toga, njihova promišljanja pridonijela su istraživanju kroz metodu fokus grupe, dok je sa samim učenikom proveden intervju. Evaluacijom izjava sudionika stječe se uvid u izazove s kojima se suočava učenik sa sindromom, razrednu klimu, njihove socijalne interakcije i prihvaćenost. Izdvojene teme ukazuju na to da se inkluzivno obrazovanje djeteta odvija u pozitivnom okruženju, s potencijalom za daljnji napredak kroz dodatnu edukaciju vršnjaka i kontinuiranu podršku stručnjaka u jačanju međusobnih odnosa.

Abstract (english)

DiGeorge genetic syndrome can cause health and neurodevelopmental disorders of different degrees of severity which significantly affects children's education, socialization, everyday life,as well as physical and mental health. According to the results of many researches children with developmental difficulties often experience social exclusion within the classroom. Therefore it is crucial to ensure their effective inclusion among their peers to foster a culture of acceptance of students with developmental disabilities and ensure inclusive upbringing and education at its full capacity. This paper aims to show the experience of attending classes from the perspective of a student with DiGeorge syndrome and, on the other hand, to gain insight into the ways his peers are perceiving and accepting that same student. First, the workshop was held with the peers, 3rd graders of elementary school with the aim of informing them about developmental disabilities, DiGeorge syndrome included. After that, their reflections contributed to research through the focus group method, while an interview was conducted with the student himself. By evaluating the statements of all participants insight is gained into the challenges student with syndrome is facing, but also about the general classroom atmosphere, their social interactions,and mutual acceptance. Selected topics indicate that inclusive education of a child is happening in a positive environment, with potential for further advancement through additional education of peers and continuous support of experts in strengthening mutual relations.
