Abstract

Seksualnost osoba s poremećajem iz spektra autizma predstavlja važan, ali često zanemaren aspekt njihovog razvoja i dobrobiti. Dok djeca tipičnog razvoja mogu dobiti informacije o seksualnosti kroz razgovor s obitelji ili prijateljima, medije, ili kroz vlastita iskustva, djeca s poremećajem iz spektra autizma često su uskraćena za takve informacije i podložnija su pritiscima i kontrolama zbog neznanja i zabrinutosti okoline. U Hrvatskoj, tema seksualnosti osoba s autizmom još uvijek je vrlo kontroverzna te se mnogi roditelji i stručnjaci suočavaju s nedostatkom informacija i obrazovanja o ovoj temi, što može dovesti do neprikladnih pristupa i nedovoljne podrške. Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje seksualnost osoba s poremećajem iz spektra autizma s ciljem stjecanja uvida u razinu informiranosti o seksualnosti osoba s autizmom te u iskustva i pristup stručnjaka i roditelja. Kroz anketni upitnik i analizu podataka prikupljenih od roditelja i stručnjaka koji rade u Centru, rad istražuje koliko su informirani o specifičnostima seksualnog razvoja osoba s autizmom i kakvu podršku pružaju u vezi sa seksualnim obrazovanjem i ponašanjem. Također, rad analizira izazove s kojima se susreću u svom pristupu i pružanju podrške, kao i kako njihova iskustva i stavovi utječu na kvalitetu podrške koju nude. Zaključci istraživanja ukazuju na potrebu za dodatnim obrazovanjem i resursima kako bi se poboljšala podrška i razumijevanje seksualnosti kod osoba s PSA. Ovaj rad naglašava važnost osnaživanja stručnjaka i roditelja kroz educiranje i razvoj učinkovitih strategija za pružanje adekvatne seksualne edukacije i podrške, kako bi se poboljšala kvaliteta života osoba s autizmom.

Abstract (english)

Sexuality in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) represents an important yet often overlooked aspect of their development and well-being. While typically developing children can receive information about sexuality through conversations with family or friends, media, or personal experiences, children with ASD are frequently deprived of such information and are subjected to greater pressures and controls due to the ignorance and concerns of those around them. In Croatia, the topic of sexuality in individuals with autism remains highly controversial, and many parents and professionals face a lack of information and education on this subject, which can lead to inappropriate approaches and insufficient support. This thesis explores the sexuality of individuals with autism spectrum disorder with the aim of gaining insight into the level of awareness about the sexuality of people with autism, as well as the experiences and approaches of professionals and parents. Through a survey and analysis of data collected from parents and professionals working at a Center, the study examines how informed they are about the specific aspects of sexual development in individuals with autism and the support they provide regarding sexual education and behavior. The thesis also investigates the challenges they face in their approach and support, as well as how their experiences and attitudes impact the quality of support they offer. The findings of the research highlight the need for additional education and resources to improve support and understanding of sexuality in individuals with ASD. This thesis emphasizes the importance of empowering professionals and parents through education and the development of effective strategies for providing adequate sexual education and support to enhance the quality of life for individuals with autism.
