Abstract

Mucanje je složen poremećaj tečnosti govora, sindrom velikog broja manifestacija čije je glavno obilježje multidimenzionalnost. Kao takva pojava, neminovno ostavlja posljedice na život djece koja mucaju, no utjecaj mucanja može se odraziti i na njihove roditelje. Budući da je područje roditeljskog percipiranja utjecaja mucanja djeteta na vlastiti život relativno neistraženo, cilj ovog istraživanja je ispitati kakva je kvaliteta života roditelja djece koja mucaju, te utvrditi postoje li razlike u samoprocijenjenoj kvaliteti života između roditelja djece predškolske i roditelja djece školske dobi, razlikuje li se ona ovisno o jakosti mucanja, te naposljetku postoje li razlike između očeva i majki. Za potrebe ispitivanja vlastoručno je kreiran "online" Upitnik za samoprocjenu kvalitete života roditelja djece koja mucaju. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 22 roditelja djece koja mucaju, 15 majki i 7 očeva. Obradom podataka prikupljenih upitnikom dobiven je zaključak da statistički značajne razlike između roditelja ne postoje, odnosno da se roditelji ne razlikuju po percipiranoj kvaliteti života. No, distribucija rezultata ukazala je na nešto jači negativni doživljaj mucanja djeteta kod majki nego kod očeva, zbog čega se hipoteza koja govori o postojanju statistički značajne razlike između majki i očeva jedina djelomično prihvaća. Budući da je ova tema prilično neistražena, a klinički značaj roditelja u logopedskoj terapiji mucanja velik, potrebna su daljnja i podrobnija istraživanja kvalitete života roditelja djece koja mucaju, jer saznanja o tome imaju potencijalno veliku kliničku implikaciju.

Abstract (english)

Stuttering is a complex disorder of speech fluency, syndrom of many manifestations, with multidimensionality being its main characteristic. As such, it necessarily has consequences on children who stutter, but it can also affect their parents' lives. Considering that the field of parents' perception about the effects their children's stuttering has on them is mostly unexplored, the aim of this study was to explore the quality of life of parents of children who stutter. The aim was also to determine differencies regarding the three variables: the age of their children who stutter (preschool or school age), severity of their children's stuttering and parent's gender. The questionnairre naimed Self-assesment quality of life questionnairre for parents of children who stutter. Twenty two parents participated in the study, 15 mothers and 7 fathers. The obtained data was processed and the results showed that there are no statistically significant differences between parents' quality of life. Hovewer, the distribution of results showed that children's stuttering has stronger impact on their mothers, as opposed to their fathers. For that reason, the hypothesis regarding the gender related differencies in self-percieved quality of life has been partially accepted. Considering that the topic of parental quality of life is greatly unexamined and the role parents have in stuttering therapy is important, further research on this topic is needed, because new findings may possibly have big clinical implications.
