Abstract

Poremećaj pažnje / hiperaktivni poremećaj (ADHD) razvojni je poremećaj prisutan kod 3% do 5% školske djece. Dijagnosticira se prema kriterijima navedenim u DSM-V priručniku, najčešće polaskom u školu. Jedinstveni uzrok ADHD-a još uvijek nije poznat. Poremećaj se nerijetko javlja u komorbiditetu s drugim poremećajima što otežava njegovo prepoznavanje i tretman. Razvojem tehnologije razvijaju se nove intervencije i tretmani koji više ili manje uspješno dovode do smanjenja simptoma ADHD-a. Jedan od takvih tretmana jest Play Attention tretman koji funkcionira po principu neurofeedback i biofeedback tehnologije. Na temelju do sada provedenih istraživanja ne mogu se donijeti zaključci ni o pozitivnom ni o negativnom djelovanju Play Attention tretmana na smanjenje simptoma ADHD-a.
Stoga je cilj ovog rada ispitati utjecaj Play Attention tretmana na smanjenje simptoma ADHD-a kod učenika osnovnoškolske dobi i dobiti uvid u majčinu perspektivu o djelovanju Play Attention tretmana na vlastito dijete. U radu je korišten i kvantitativni i kvalitativni pristup kako bi se prikupio i obradio što veći broj podataka. Korištena je SNAP-IV ocjenska skala za roditelje i nastavnike. Skalu je ispunila majka na početku i na kraju tretmana. Također je proveden i polustrukturirani intervju s majkom te su analizirani podaci dobiveni od samog Play Attention programa.
Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju da je tijekom i nakon provedbe Play Attention tretmana primijećeno smanjenje simptoma ADHD-a te poboljšanje školskih ocjena i bolji odnos s majkom. S obzirom na brojna ograničenja ovog istraživanja dobiveni rezultati trebaju se uzeti u obzir sa zadrškom i promatrati primarno kao dobar poticaj za daljnja istraživanja na ovu temu.

Abstract (english)

Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental disorder present in 3 to 5 % of school children. It is diagnosed by criteria listed in the DSM-V manual, usually when children start school. A single cause of ADHD is still unknown. The disorder oftentimes appears in comorbidity with other disorders, which aggravates its recognition and treatment.
With technological developments, new interventions and treatments are being developed that, more or less successfully, lead to reduction of ADHD symptoms. One of such treatments is the Play Attention treatment, which functions on the principles of neurofeedback and biofeedback technology. Based on currently conducted researches, conclusions can’t be made of neither a positive nor a negative affect of Play Attention on the reduction of ADHD symptoms.
Therefore, the aim of this paper is to research the impact of the Play Attention treatment on the reduction of ADHD symptoms in children of primary school age and to get an insight on the effect of the Play Attention treatment on a child from a mother’s perspective. Both quantitative and qualitative approach were used in order to obtain and process more data. The SNAP-IV grading scale for parents and teachers was used in the beginning and end of the treatment by the mother. Also, a semi-structured interview was conducted and data obtained from the Play Attention program itself was analyzed.
The obtained results show that during and after the implementation of the Play Attention treatment, a reduction of ADHD symptoms and an improvement in school grades and in the relationship with the mother were notable. Taking into consideration the numerous limitations of this research, the given results should be taken with reservation and seen primarily as a good stimulation for further research on the topic.
