Abstract

Mucanje je poremećaj tečnosti govora koji se definira kao sindrom velikog broja manifestacija na govornom, jezičnom, psihološkom, fiziološkom, tjelesnom i socijalnom području (Sardelić, Brestovci, Heđever, 2001). Cilj ovog diplomskog rada jest dati što bolji uvid u izazove s kojima se susreću studenti koji mucaju, posebno u aspektu vršnjačkih odnosa. Također, cilj rada je ispitati povezanost jakosti mucanja sa kvalitetom vršnjačkih odnosa (prijateljskih, romantičnih i kolegijalnih) te sa samopercepcijom i samopoštovanjem studenata koji mucaju. U svrhu istraživanja konstruiran je upitnik Kvaliteta vršnjačkih odnosa kod studenata koji mucaju. U sklopu samog upitnika, nalazi se skala procjene 9-Point Scale of Self Report of Stuttering kojim su ispitanici trebali procijeniti jakost vlastitog mucanja. Upitnik je elektroničkim putem dostavljen ispitanicima te ga je ispunilo 26 studenata koji mucaju. Nije pronađena statistički značajna povezanost između jakosti mucanja i kvalitete vršnjačkih odnosa te jakosti mucanja i samopercepcije i samopoštovanja studenata koji mucaju. Rezultati se trebaju promatrati u okviru malog uzorka ispitanika, kao i rezultata dobivenih skalom samoprocjene među kojima nema studenata koji su svoje mucanje označili kao izraženije. Možda bi se u istraživanju sa većim uzorkom ispitanika pokazalo da jakost mucanja ipak utječe na kvalitetu vršnjačkih odnosa. Također, možda bi studenti s izraženijim mucanjem imali manje pozitivna iskustva u vršnjačkim odnosima. U svakom slučaju, pokazano je veliko opće zadovoljstvo kvalitetom vršnjačkih odnosa kod studenata koji mucaju te većim dijelom pozitivna samopercepcija i povišeno samopoštovanje promatrano u kontekstu vršnjačkih odnosa studenata koji mucaju.

Abstract (english)

Stuttering is a speech fluency disorder that is defined as a syndrome which of a large number of manifestations in speech, language, psychological, physiological, physical, and social area (Sardelić, Brestovci, Heđever, 2001). The aim of this study is to give an insight in the challenges that university students who stutter are facing, especially when it comes to peer relationships. Likewise, the aim is to examine the correlation between stuttering severity and the quality of peer relationships (friendships, romantic relationships and relationships with other university students) and the correlation between stuttering severity and self-perception and self-esteem of university students who stutter. For the purpose of this research, a questionnaire titled The quality of peer relationships among stuttering university students has been made. A 9-Point Scale of Self Report of Stuttering, a measuring instrument by which subjects assessed the severity of their own stuttering, can be found as a part of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was delivered electronically to the respondents and was completed by total of 26 stuttering university students. No statistically significant correlation between stuttering severity and the quality of peer relationships or between stuttering severity and self-perception and self-esteem of university students who stutter was found. These results need to be interpreted by considering the small sample of respondents and answers on the self assessment scale where there can be found no university students who thought of their stuttering as more severe. Perhaps a study with a larger sample of respondents would show that stuttering severity affects the quality of peer relationships. Also, perhaps university students with more pronounced stuttering would have less positive experiences in peer relationships. In any case, the results show a great general satisfaction with the quality of peer relationships among stuttering university students as well as a largely positive self-perception and increased self-esteem observed in the context of peer relationships of university students who stutter.
