Abstract

Aspergerov sindrom (AS) i visokofunkcionirajući autizam (VFA) karakteriziraju odstupanja u komunikaciji, socijalnim interakcijama te prisustvo ograničenih repetitivnih ponašanja i interesa. Jezične i kognitivne sposobnosti kod ove populacije ostaju očuvane i upravo one čine preduvjet za razvoj pismenosti i postizanje akademskog uspjeha. Istraživanja predvještina pisanja u ovoj populaciji su nedostatna stoga je cilj ovog istraživanja bio usmjeren na opis grafomotoričkih vještina, prepoznavanja i imenovanja slova te prepoznavanja kratkih riječi kod djece s AS-om i VFA-om i usporedba njihovih postignuća s rezultatima djece urednog razvoja. Uzorak je činilo 11 djece s AS-om i VFA-om te 11 djece urednog razvoja u dobi od 4 do 7 godina. Sukladno pretpostavkama i stranim istraživanjima, rezultati su pokazali da djeca s AS-om i VFA-om pokazuju lošije grafomotoričke vještine u odnosu na djecu urednog razvoja, ali pokazuju dobro poznavanje i imenovanje slova kao i prepoznavanje kratkih riječi. Rezultati ovog istraživanja upućuju na to da djeca s AS-om i VFA-om pokazuju prosječne predvještine pisanja kao i djeca urednog razvoja te su u mogućnosti ostvariti dobra akademska postignuća.

Abstract (english)

Asperger's syndrome (AS) and highfunctioning autism (HFA) are characterized by impairments in communication, reciprocal social interaction and restricted repetitive behaviors or interests. Their cognitive and linguistic abilities remain preserved and are considered as literacy development prerequisites and good potential for achieving academic success. Pre-writing skills in this population are insufficiently researched so the aim of this research was to describe the characteristics of graphomotor skills, letter naming and short words reading in children with AS and HFA and compare pre-writing skills in children with AS and HFA and their typically developing peers. The sample consisted of 11 children with AS and HFA and 11 typically developing children aged 4-7 years. In accordance with the expectation and other researches, children with AS and HFA showed poorer graphomotor skills but good letter naming skills and short words reading. In this study children with AS and HFA showed average pre-writing skills, as well as typically developing children and they are able to achieve good academic success.
