Abstract

Parallel abstract (English)
Physical disabilities include disturbances in gross and fine motor skills and/or body balance which cause difficulties in daily functional activities. This work presents effectiveness of three methods in the rehabilitation of people with physical disabilities. Constraint-induced movement therapy is a rehabilitation approach that includes physical restraining of the unimpaired extremity while performing intensive functional practice with the impaired extremity in order to decrease defficits and increase one's functional independence. Masgutova method's founder is a Russian psychologist, Svetlana Masgutova. It is a set of programs focused on the restoration, maturation and integration of primary movement reflex patterns for establishing adequate and appropriate functioning of the nervous system. Feldenkrais method is called by his creator, Moshé Feldenkrais. It is a learning method that tries to improve function at persons of different age and abilities. The results indicate that there is a scientific foundation for effectiveness of constraint-induced movement therapy in the area of physical disabilities, while Masgutova and Feldenkrais method require a larger number of valid research in order to determine efficiency benefits.
