Abstract

Cilj ovog rada bio je prilagoditi upitnik The Hearing Handicap Inventory, odnosno njegovu verziju za primjenu sa starijim osobama – The Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly (HHIE) – na hrvatski jezik te izvršiti procjenu pouzdanosti i valjanosti hrvatske inačice upitnika. Prilagodba HHIE upitnika potaknuta je činjenicom da ne postoji instrument samoprocjene koji je preveden sa stranog govornog područja na hrvatski jezik, odnosno važnošću HHIE upitnika samoprocjene za otvaranje novih mogućnosti u području rehabilitacije stečenog oštećenja sluha – mjerenju psiho-socijalnih ograničenja koja stečeno oštećenje sluha nameće starijim osobama u domaćim uvjetima. Sudionici istraživanja bile su starije osobe koje su prvi put došle na audiometriju u bolničke centre te kontrolni uzorak koji nije prijavio oštećenje sluha. Konačni broj sudionika iznosio je 159 osoba, od toga 84 osobe s oštećenjem sluha te 75 čujućih osoba. Statističkom analizom unutarnje konzistencije instrumenta pokazalo se da Cronbachova alfa hrvatske adaptacije upitnika HHIE iznosi 0.97, te da je ponovljivost dobivenih rezultata visoka, čime je utvrđeno da je hrvatska inačica HHIE instrumenta pouzdana. Pomoću Mann Whitney U testa i analizom Spearmanovog koeficijenta korelacije utvrđena je i dobra diskriminacijska i konkurentna valjanost hrvatske adaptacije HHIE upitnika

Abstract (english)

The aim of this paper was to adapt The Hearing Handicap Inventory questionnaire – the version designed for the use with the Elderly (The Hearing Handicap Inventory questionnaire the Elderly - HHIE) – to the Croatian language and to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Croatian version of the questionnaire. The adaptation of questionnaire was motivated by the fact that there is no self-assessment tool translated from any foreign language into the Croatian language, as well by the opportunities this adaptation can bring to the domestic experts dealing with hearing loss rehabilitation in terms of measuring the psycho-social limitations that have been imposed to the elderly by their hearing loss. Participants of this research were elderly people who came to audiometric assessment at hospital centers for the first time and people who did not report hearing problems. The final number of participants was 159, of whom 84 were hearing impaired and 75 reported no hearing impairment. Statistical analysis of internal consistency of the instrument showed that Cronbach's alpha of the Croatian adaptation of the HHIE questionnaire is 0.97, and that the repeatability of the results is high, meaning that the Croatian version of HHIE instrument is reliable. Using the Mann Whitney U test and the analysis of the Spearman correlation coefficient, it was determined that the Croatian adaption of HHIE instrument has good discriminant and concurrent validity.
